ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Students in a classroom at Zaniac Learning Center are discovering the joy of working on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities.
The campers at the after-school program must work as a team to design a basic machine. They put their heads together to come up with a way to build a pulley that could lift a certain amount of weight.
Collaboration is just one of the many things students learn at Zaniac
“We have always wanted to make sure every child has the opportunity to learn STEM and to get STEM enrichment,” co-owner Lynne Porter said. “And, especially for me, it was getting the girls involved at a young age so that when they got to middle school and higher that coding wasn’t a scary subject for them.”
Zaniac, in Biltmore Park Town Square, has served thousands of students in its seven years in the area.
