Zane Math

At Zaniac, we believe that all children can learn and become excited about math in the right environment. Enjoy our fun-filled approach to Math where students can even draw on our walls! We build on the great work teachers do in the classroom to support your child where she or he needs it most. With Zane Math, your student will experience a world-class curriculum coordinated with what she or he is studying in school. This makes it easy to extend the lessons learned at Zaniac to the classroom. Every Math student takes an individual Zane Math Assessment so we can customize a math program for each child from our 14,000 math problems database. For Grades K-2, 3-5 and 6-8.

Homework Help

Zaniac’s Homework Center gives kids the attention they need to succeed. We understand what a difference a little bit of extra attention can make in a child’s performance and confidence in school. Zaniac’s trained instructors are available after school to help your student with homework, and in specific subjects. For Grades K-2, 3-5 and 6-8.

Art & Design

3D Printing & Design

Learn advanced, professional level 3D modeling and CAD techniques! With an emphasis on functional design and robust modeling, students will learn the specifics of how 3D Print & Design is used today. Learn about the software used in college design and architecture classes, slicer software and how to alter your own print settings. Student will design and create actual 3D prints (note: prints will not be ready on the same day of class). For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Fashion Design

Design one-of-a-kind looks using digital modeling and create custom, wearable accessories through 3D printing. Explore color theory and use the open-source vector graphics software Inkscape. Assemble your own custom garment designs by assembling mood boards, drawing vectors, arranging nodes, and layering color palettes. Something for every taste—from dresses to sports gear! For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

GarageBand Music Lab

Get hands-on experience with real-world music production equipment and bring your song ideas to life! GarageBand® Music Lab is the perfect primer for beginners who want to learn the basics of one of the most popular and accessible DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) programs out there. Starting with the basics of musical notation and form, students work through looping, editing, sound manipulation, and capturing vocals and MIDI instrumentation to create their own music. Unleash your musical creativity! For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Coding

Scratch Coder

Intro to Scratch teaches programming concepts such as sequences, loops, iterative development, and debugging using a modern, block-based approach. Students create animations and videos to share with friends and family. For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Game Design with Scratch

In Game Design, students create a new game every class and program classic games like Pac-man and more. Learn advanced concepts, such as broadcasting, variables, and adaptability while working on collaborative learning skills. For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Computer Science Lab with micro:bits

Get an introduction to coding and computer science by way of making and design, using the new micro:bit microcontroller board, and Microsoft’s easy and powerful MakeCode block-based coding environment. It is a project-based curriculum with a maker philosophy at its core; the idea is that by making physical objects, students create a context for learning the coding and computer science concepts and using interesting problems that students want to solve! For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Python Coder

Students will learn about turtles—little arrows students use to program. Students will use turtles to learn loops, methods to make drawing numbers/shapes easier, and conditionals which change the way the turtle will move based on what they tell it to do. These techniques will help students learn how python works, and how to program, while keeping it fun. For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Python Intermediate Coder

Students will learn about the shell of python including data types, lists, conditionals and methods. With the commands and techniques used in the real world, kids will be introduced to a written programming language—a sought after skill. For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Java Coder

Explore the fundamentals of Java programming with our latest offering for aspiring coders. Delve into the essential syntax of Java, a powerful enterprise-level programming language, while guiding and instructing the robotic marvel, Karel. Craft diverse virtual environments, maneuver Karel through various landscapes, and unleash its artistic side by creating intricate shapes and letters. For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Java Intermediate Coder

Students learn the basic commands and advanced syntax of Java, a "write once, run everywhere" programming language. Explore principles like variables, classes, methods, code efficiency, and automation, all while building a text adventure game, a calculator, and more. For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Web Development with JavaScript

Make things happen on a web page! Understand the programming language of JavaScript and become a website developer in training! Watch what you can make happen on a web page with JavaScript and how to use it to alter HTML coding. Change text and images on a website. Run calculations. Write expressions and learn how to use pop-ups. Understand what parts of a website use JavaScript, enhance your skills reading and writing JavaScript, and know how JavaScript affects a website. For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Web Design

In Web Design, students create their own website, going all the way from concept to functional, hosted site. Learn the basics of the HTML5 and CSS3 web languages, layout strategies, color theory, and responsive web design. Start by brainstorming your initial concept, wireframing a template in Moqups, building in Weebly, and tweaking the HTML and CSS to dial in the design. Web Design students also learn about site maintenance, including UX feedback, testing, updates, domain management, and hosting. For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Makey Makey

Students dive headfirst into the exciting world of invention, exploration, and hands-on learning. Makey Makey technology revolutionizes the way we interact with the world around us, empowering students to transform everyday objects into extraordinary inventions. Engage in a series of stimulating challenges and creative projects, from turning bananas into piano keys to transforming playdough into game controllers, the possibilities are endless! Learn the principles of circuits, coding basics, and design thinking while creating your own unique inventions. For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Engineering

Simple Machines

Simple Machines is perfect for younger learners who are just getting started with LEGO. Students get an introduction to levers, inclined planes, pulleys, screws, and complete challenges in teams. Learn how simple machines are all around us (like the flagpole at school, the wheelbarrow in your backyard, The seesaw at the playground!) and how they're used to make complex tasks easier to do. For Grades K-2 and 3-5.

Robotics for Beginners

Technology and math skills come to life as we teach students the basics of Robotics using lots of hands-on activities. We will spark curiosity with our friends DashBot! For Grades K-2.

Robotics Inventors

Design multiple prototypes to find the most effective way to move a robot without using wheels or test the efficiency of two different grabber designs. In Robot Inventors, students combine colorful LEGO building elements, easy-to-use hardware, and an intuitive drag-and-drop coding language based on Scratch. Let our Instructors and SPIKE Prime engage your child through fun, real-world learning activities to think critically and solve complex problems. Advanced Robotics

Work with our robotics experts to build more complex robot systems using our LEGO EV3 Robotics System! Learn about sensors and motors, the scientific method, forces, and design through exploring scientific and engineering concepts. For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Future Design Builders

Little Engineers Circuits

Think, build and create! Explore mechanical and electrical engineering through hands-on exploration and innovation! Technology is a powerful way to teach kids engineering skills with littleBits circuits, LEGO EV3 robots, drones and more! For Grades K-2.

Intro to Circuits

Intro to Circuits uses littleBits™, a system of modules that magnetically snap together to build projects ranging from flashlights to synthesizers. Learn about basic inputs, outputs, analogs, electricity, and more! For Grades K-2 and 3-5.

Electronics Lab

Get charged up! Students will be introduced to the basic properties of electricity and electronics. Learn the fundamentals behind circuitry and how circuits are used in the technological devices we use today. Kids will be able to create circuits to shine a light bulb, spin a motor and produce sounds. For Grades K-2 and 3-5.

Game-Based Learning

Minecraft Explorer

Game-Based Learning using Minecraft™ capitalizes on the love you already have for the game as we explore math (like Cartesian coordinates) to navigate while working together with friends to accomplish group missions. Explore real science and engineering concepts like biomes and gravity playing a game you love. For Grades K-2, 3-5 and 6-8.

Minecraft Galaxy

Game-Based Learning using Minecraft™ capitalizes on the love you already have for the game as we explore the galaxy! Learn about Earth's oceans and undersea life with the Oceancraft mod, and explore space with the Galacticraft mod. Design and build rockets that travel to the moon, International Space Station, and even Mars. The final class culminates with a team-building space rescue! For Grades K-2, 3-5 and 6-8.

Minecraft Architectural Design

In Architectural Design, students learn the basics of urban planning and building design. Explore real-world architectural landmarks through Google Maps & Street View, then take that knowledge and apply it to designing a cityscape using Minecraft™ and Tinkercad. Students will research and collect examples of interesting or unusual buildings from around the world and explore why these buildings are unique. Following their research, students will plan, design and build their own examples of amazing architecture in Minecraft! For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Minecraft Engineering & Design

Students explore the inner workings of manufacturing and heavy industry, ranging from baseline resource gathering to advanced metal production. With the simplified tools provided by Minecraft, students set up working facilities to create products from raw materials, and set up a logistics network that can efficiently move items to where they are needed. For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Go Green with Minecraft

Using the popular Minecraft Education Edition, students will go on a journey into the world of environmental sustainability and explore components such as sustainable homes, managing waste products, clean electricity generation, responsible forestry, and more. They will build their own hydropower plant and learn that building a sustainable future actually empowers the economy and quality of life! For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Minecraft Physics

Embark on an adventure into the realm of physics through this innovative program! Dive into the captivating realm of Newton’s Laws, mechanics, and thermo-dynamics in a gamified setting. Engage with intricate concepts including fluid physics and electromagnetics, all within the immersive landscape of Minecraft. For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Minecraft Redstone Lab

It’s electrifying! Redstone is the circuit equivalent in Minecraft that allows students to use electrical engineering concepts to create complex machines such as a clock or a calculator. In Redstone Lab, students will learn about inputs, outputs, logic gates and more through the latest version of Minecraft. Using their creativity and critical-thinking skills, students will help scientists solve electrical challenges throughout the laboratory. For Grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Chess helps your child develop strategic thinking skills critical to success. Chess helps develop higher order thinking skills, enhances creativity, and improves memory—while giving your child a leg up at school. For Grades K-2, 3-5 and 6-8.

Touch Typing

Learn how to type effectively for taking tests, doing homework, and engaging in today’s technology-driven world. Touch Typing classes help your child increase typing proficiency for increased confidence and success in school. For Grades K-2, 3-5 and 6-8.

Dinosaur Adventure

Young paleontologists embark on an extraordinary journey into the ancient world of dinosaurs! Join us for a thrilling expedition where curious minds delve into the mysteries of the past. Students will step back in time to the Mesozoic Era, discovering the colossal creatures that once roamed the Earth. Earth Science

Understand water cycles and the impact of the weather. Surviving the fury of mother nature can be a challenge. Learn what a meteorologist looks at to determine our weather. Explore our twisting, shaking, moving Earth as we understand the power tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes. Eco-Explorers

Calling all young adventurers! Through hands-on activities and interactive lessons, students will uncover the secrets of the ecosystem, learn about biodiversity, and engage in sustainable practices that nurture our planet. Observe wildlife in their natural habitats and learn about conservation efforts that make a real impact. From nature hikes to wildlife observation, each day is a new adventure! Kitchen Chemistry

Join us for the most delicious classes! Do you know what makes something soft or hard, or a solid, liquid, or gas? Chemistry tells you. We’ll make goop, cause chemical reactions, create yummy treats and munch, munch more! Each activity will illustrate an important chemistry concept. For Grades K-2 and 3-5.

Ocean Explorers

Dive under the water's surface and learn about the largest habitat in the world. Discover how marine mammals are adapted for life in the ocean and learn all about the different animals that call the ocean their home with hands-on activities and fun projects. Learn just what it takes to be a friend to the natural world and how to protect our oceans and take steps to help in conservation science! For Grades K-2 and 3-5.

Physical Science

Get an early start learning the basics of physics and chemistry. Together we will look at the physics of gravity and motion, and understand why objects fall. Explore early concepts in chemistry, including atoms, reactions, acid and bases. With electricity and electrochemistry, let’s create batteries from fruit and electroplating metal coins! Space Science

Do you have what it takes to be an astronaut? Join us as we explore space through the eyes of an astronaut. Let’s learn more about the planets, moods, stars and space technology. Travel our solar system and participate in real astronaut-training activities, including living in space. Explore the technologies that space scientists and astronauts use, including lunar rovers and robotic arms. Using what you have learned in this class, will you be able to survive in space?
